An American Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving to all of our American readers! We’re very thankful that you’ve joined us here, and wish you all a wonderful day.

Do you know how this American holiday originated? It had a lot to do with the author of Mary Had a Little Lamb, Sarah Josepha Hale. For almost 20 years, she fought for Thanksgiving to be made into a national holiday. She finally succeeded when Abraham Lincoln agreed and declared the last Thursday in November to be the Thanksgiving holiday in 1863.
